Leeds United's Barry Douglas would be an ideal signing for Celtic
With Boli Bolingoli on his way out of the club following breaching COVID protocols, Scotland international Barry Douglas would be the ideal replacement.
Following Celtic making striker Albian Ajeti their second signing of the summer transfer window, it looks like the club could look to strengthen the left back position with a move for Leeds United defender Barry Douglas.
The Scottish champions are set to get rid of Boli Bolingoli over his breach of COVID quarantine protocols, and will now be in the market for someone who can push Greg Taylor for a place in the side and also provide much needed experience - Douglas fits that bill.
Sky Sports journalist, Anthony Joseph, has linked Celtic with a move for the 30-year-old United left back who is in the final year of his contract with the Elland Road side. But as we all know, you can take what the majority of sports journalists say with a pinch of salt during the madness of the transfer window.
Douglas, who has played for Dundee United, Lech Poznan, and Wolves among others would give Neil Lennon the option of a left back that is more in the mould of Kieran Tierney - one that is effective in attack as well as in defence, albeit more experienced and older!
The one-time capped Scotland international left our shores in 2013 to pursue a career in Poland and went on to win a league and cup double with Lech Poznan, before winning the Turkish Cup with Konyaspor and then the English Championship with both Wolverhampton and Leeds United.
Celtic must secure cover for Taylor once Bolingoli leaves - with Amiens looking to take him on a season long loan deal with an option to buy in the summer - but with United now in the English Premiership, Douglas may wish to remain in the Premiership after missing out previously when with Wolves unless he is deemed as surplus to requirements.
Meanwhile, there are strong reports being aired tonight that Celtic are set to announce the signing of Brighton defender Shane Duffy next week and could very well be added to Celtic’s Champions League squad for the clash against KR Reykjavik.
If Celtic do pull off the capture of the 28 year-old Irish international then it would be a huge coup for the Scottish champions and will bring much needed steel to the heart of our defence.
What do you make of the potential signings of both Barry Douglas and Shane Duffy?

Douglas and Duffy both bring experience and some steel to their positions. Duffy an experienced international with PL experience. Douglas has experience of Scottish and European football. Do you expect us to sign a ready made tierney or van Dijk???
Good grief. From Tierney to Douglas and from vanDijk to Duffy.
